Signed Former No. 1 overall pick Greg Oden has signed a contract with the two-time defending NBA champion Miami Heat that will pay him about $1 million this coming year and includes a player option for the 2014-15 season. He last played in the NBA on Dec. 5, 2009.

• The Dallas Mavericks have signed free-agent center DeJuan Blair, giving them a full roster of 15 players. The deal is reportedly a one-year contract for the veteran’s minimum of slightly less than $1 million.

Suspended UEFA says it has suspended two football referees from Armenia while it prosecutes them for match-fixing. The European football body says referee Andranik Arsenyan and assistant Hovhannes Avagyan, who admitted to compromising a Europa League soccer match for a betting scam, have been suspended until their cases are heard on Aug. 22.

Sidelined Florida senior Andre Debose will miss the football season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Debose, who owns a school record with four kickoff returns for touchdowns, injured his knee during a non-contract drill in practice Tuesday.

Retired The NHL’s head of officiating, Terry Gregson, is calling it quits. Stephen Walkom will leave his job as an on-ice referee to take over as senior vice president and director of officiating. It’s a familiar role for Walkom, who held the position from 2005-09.

Hired Florida State has hired Duke administrator Stan Wilcox as its athletic director. Wilcox came to Duke in 2008 from Notre Dame with A.D. Kevin White and had been his senior deputy A.D.
