Obituary: Gardner, Devern

Age 89

GARDNER, DeVern DeVern Gardner slipped the surly bonds of earth on Sunday August 4th, 2013 at his home in Nine Mile Falls, WA.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Elizabeth, his five children, Marty, Laura, Brian, Dave and Jeff, 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two on the way.

Vern was born 89 years ago on July 16th, 1924 in Snyder, TX.

He was a decorated Air Force Veteran who faithfully served his country as an officer in the Army Air Corps during WWII and the Korean war, and as a fighter pilot in Vietnam.

He retired as a Lt.

Colonel in 1972.

He was also a passionate outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and travelling.

He lived life to the fullest and shared his love of life with his family whom he always placed first.

He was a devoted husband, loving father, soldier and patriot.

He was a man of HONOR and integrity and showed his love of Christ through the way he lived his life.

He will be greatly missed.

A celebration of his life will be held at Driscoll Baptist Church 4815 N. Driscoll Blvd.

Spokane, WA 99205 at 2pm on Sunday, August 11th, 2013.
