She was pre-deceased by her husband, Larry in 2007 and father Donald Steffen in 2010.
She is survived by her three children: Stephanie (Scot) Littrel of Deer Park, David (Denise) Porter of Tillamook, Oregon, and Annemarie Campbell of Monroe; six grandchildren: Derek, Colin, Chloe, Ryan, Robyn, and Rosy; mother: Elma Steffen of Monroe; siblings: Mary (David) Douglas, of Calhoun, GA, Eileen (Rich) Hartzell of Deer Park, Nancy (Rick) Oliver of Puyallup, and Wayne (Brenda) Steffen of Antioch, CA; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Judy was born July 29, 1946 in Everette, WA.
She grew up on the family dairy farm outside of Monroe, graduating from Monroe High School in 1964.
She attended Washington State University earning a Phi Beta Kappa key and graduating in 1969 with a BA in German and English Education.
She spent the 1967-68 academic year attending the University of Bonn, Germany, where she made lifelong friends.
Judy met Larry on the State Holstein Youth Tour in 1963.
They later renewed their friendship in college and were married in 1970.
They returned to the family farm on Dahl Road in 1971 after his Army obligation.
There they farmed together until his death.
Judy was also a teacher and a librarian at Deer Park Middle School.
She taught drama, being one of the driving forces behind Spike Spring and other productions.
She recently took on the journalism class and school newspaper.
Judy spent many hours before and after school working with students.
She also spend countless hours working with kids as a 4-H leader.
She is a member of St. Mary Presentation Catholic Church, the Inland Northwest and Washington State Dairy Women and Williams Valley Grange.
She acted as advisor to several Inland Northwest Dairy Princess/Ambassadors and was a renown maker of homemade ice cream.
Judy was proud of the fact that she participated in every Bloomsday Race, except the year she had pneumonia.
A Vigil-Rosary will be held Thursday, August 8th at 7:00PM and the Funeral Mass will be Friday, August 9th at 11:00AM both at St. Mary Presentation, 602 E. 6th St., Deer Park, directed by Lauer Funeral Home with Fr.
Albert Grasher, celebrant.
Interment will be in the Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Deer Park.
At St. Mary Presentation, Judy was recognized for the many different hats she wore.
Her family requests the ladies attending the funeral wear a hat in her honor.
