In brief: Work will restrict traffic on Sullivan

SPOKANE VALLEY – Another road construction project is starting on Sullivan Road on Monday.

Crews will be resurfacing the concrete deck of the bridge that crosses over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks just south of Marietta Avenue.

The surface of the bridge has been deteriorating and separating from the deck. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction during construction, which is expected to last three weeks.

The project is fully funded by a federal grant.

Parks department showing free film

SPOKANE VALLEY – The second free summer movie in the park hosted by the city of Spokane Valley Parks and Recreation Department is set to begin about 8:20 p.m. Aug. 17 in Mirabeau Meadows Park, 13500 E. Mirabeau Parkway.

“Hotel Transylvania” will be shown after an hour of free activities for the family. It is rated PG.

Lawn chairs and picnics are welcome.
