Accused murderer Schauman pleads not guilty

The man charged with the drive-by shooting death of a Spokane man two months ago pleaded not guilty Tuesday and was given a trial date of Oct. 7.

Issiah L. Schauman, 19, is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the June 12 killing of 27-year-old Fabian McBride, who suffered three gunshot wounds to the chest outside his apartment in the 700 block of North Atlantic Street.

Schauman was arrested in Pierce County in late June and extradicted to Spokane on July 10.

Schauman remains in the Spokane County Jail on a $1 million bond.
