Crew Select team finishes second in Colorado

The Crew Select 13-and-under baseball team placed second at the Triple Crown World Series in Steamboat Springs, Colo.

The Crew won seven straight games in two days to reach the championship game. The team finished the tourney with a 10-2 record.

Team members included Ben Albrecht, Quinn Bennett, Nate Buer, Koby Blunt, Connor Coballes, Desi Parisotto, Jake Pfennigs, Zach Steele, Jackson Sumner, Michael Tsuchida, Payton Utzman, Jadan Vandervert and Jake Wells. Coaches were Shane Steele, Dusty Pfennigs and Will Sutor.

Golf

Nearly 150 youth participated for a chance to represent the Pacific Northwest in the National Drive, Chip and Putt Championship at Augusta National Golf Club in April.

The players each played three putts, three chips and three drives and earned points for accuracy and distance in driving skill.

Six area youth placed in the top 10 in their age divisions. They are: Anna Davis of Chewelah (second, girls 7-9); Billy Davis of Chewelah (fourth, boys 7-9) and Tyler Pride of Nine Mile Falls (seventh, boys 7-9); Brayden Miles of Spokane (seventh, boys 10-11); Courtney Jackson of Spokane (fifth, girls 12-13); and Will Reeves of Sandpoint (eighth, boys 12-13)

Softball

Carissa Sdao of Central Valley recently had an overseas experience.

Sdao spent two weeks playing in Italy for the USA North American Prospects team. The team placed second in the Tuscany series and had wins over Italy and Czech Republic. The team consisted of players from 14 states.

Sdao finished with the highest batting average, .880, and was given an award.
