Obituary: Greer, Charles H.
Age 92
He was remarkably healthy until he had a heart attack while dancing in May of this year.
He was the fourth of five children born in a log house on Pontiac Ridge, twelve miles east of Chesaw, WA in extreme northeastern Okanogan County.
His mother was Estella Mae Greer and his father was Ewell P. Greer.
Charles was born prematurely and was blind since birth.
He was preceded in death by sisters Virginia and Dorothy, as well as his half-brother Wesley.
He is survived by his sister Violet (Toots) Robinson, with whom he lived since 1970.
Prior to living with Toots and family, Charles lived with his mother at the remote home where he was born.
Upon moving to Spokane, Charles began participating in Day Out for the Blind and numerous other recreational activities at Center Pointe.
Charles enjoyed swimming, bowling, dancing, raising fruit trees, basket weaving, walking Bloomsday, listening to talking books, playing his guitar and harmonica, singing and yodeling.
He attended Lynwood Seventh Day Adventist Church and was a devout Christian.
Charles enjoyed a long and happy life.
A brief graveside service will be held at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 West Wellesley Avenue in Spokane at 2:30 PM on Friday, August 16, followed immediately by an informal celebration of his life at Robinson Research, in the Associated Industries Building, 1206 N. Lincoln Street, across from the NW corner of the Arena Parking lot.
