Obituary: Skidmore, Robert Degrief

Age 87

SKIDMORE, Robert DeGrief A lifetime resident of Colville, passed away August 8, 2013 from complications from a fall on August 4, 2013.

He was 87.

Bob was born November 14, 1925 to Loyd and Marie Skidmore of Colville, and graduated from Colville High School in 1942.

Between service in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War, he earned undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Washington.

After being admitted to the Washington State Bar, Bob embarked on a nearly 50-year law career, serving most of those years in private practice in Colville.

He married Betty Saffel of Colville in 1957, and the couple raised three children.

Bob is survived by wife Betty; daughter Shirley and her husband, Ron Quant, of Tigard, Ore.; son Rich, his wife, Hailey, and their two children of Everett; son Jim, his wife, Jessica Winston, and their two children of Pocatello, Idaho; sister Dorothy Kofler of College Place; and seven nieces and nephews and their families.

A memorial service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 205 N. Maple in Colville on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Mountain View Park Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorial contributions in Bob’s honor be made to Colville Dollars for Scholars, P.O.
