Indians hold off Tri-City

PASCO – One big inning was all Spokane needed Wednesday.

The Indians put three on the board in the second against the Tri-City Dust Devils and held on for a 3-2 Northwest League win at Gesa Stadium.

Jordan Akins opened Spokane’s second inning with a double off Tri-City starter Logan Norris (0-2). Barrett Serrato followed two batters later with an RBI single before Jamie Jarmon doubled in Serrato to put the Indians up 3-0.

That was all the offense starting pitcher John Niggli would require. Niggli (1-0) worked five innings for Spokane, allowing two runs in the fourth.

Luis Pollorena relieved Niggli in the sixth and kept Tri-City at bay for three innings before handing the ball to Abel De Los Santos.

De Los Santos recorded his first save, stranding a runner at third base to end the game.
