Obituary: Garvin, Hazel “Juanita”

Age 86

GARVIN, Hazel “Juanita” March 30,1927 - August 11, 2013 (Age 86) Was born to Sam and Grace (Corbel) Cowling, March 30, l927 in De Queen, Arkansas.

She was one of eleven brothers and sisters.

They were an especially close knit family and stayed that way for all the years to follow.

Juanita went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ early Sunday morning, August 11, 2013.

She met, fell in love, and married Samuel Franklin Garvin on February 22, 1947.

He preceded her into Heaven in 2004 after being married for 57 years.

Born to them was their daughter, and only child, Janet Gail Garvin.

Her priorities in life were very plain and clear to those who knew her…..1.

Family 3.

Friends.

Juanita was a member of Valley Real Life Church on South Barker Road.

She so enjoyed her involvement in the Forward Youth Group there.

She was known as the Youth Group Grandma to many of them.

That was such a blessing in her life!

Her relationship with her grandsons, Josh and Nick, was especially precious to her.

They shared many special times together from camping in the motor home, to watching hockey and golf.

Her son-in-law, Tim, was also such a blessing to her, and she so loved his barbeque skills.

Juanita is survived by her daughter, Jan Grigsby, her son-in-law, Tim, her grandson Josh, all of the Spokane Valley; and grandson, Nick and wife, Ashley of Phoenix, Arizona; one sister, Fairy Bell Leeper, of De Queen, Arkansas; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers her wishes were to make contributions to Hospice of Spokane, Hospice House, St. Jude’s, or Union Gospel Mission.

Viewing will be on Friday, August 16, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Hazen & Jaegar Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines Road, Spokane Valley, WA.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 3:00 pm at Valley Real Life Church, 1831 S. Barker Road, Greenacres, WA, with burial to follow at Pines Cemetery, 1402 S. Pines Road, Spokane Valley, WA.
