Support immigration reform

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor recently visited Spokane to help raise money for Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers. I would like to take this opportunity to commend his work on legislation that would give legal status to immigrants who arrived in their youth. As Cantor himself said, it’s a matter of decency and compassion.

As a home-care worker in Spokane, I work with immigrants every day and have immigrant family members, etc. Creating a road map to citizenship for all aspiring Americans, young and old, will allow them to follow their dreams and will move our country forward.

Immigration reform symbolizes our values of fairness and hard work. The majority of Americans are in favor; Republican representatives across the country are voicing support. The time is now for McMorris Rodgers to show her strong leadership by saying yes to common-sense immigration reform.
