SPOKANE VALLEY – It’s time to vote for the best entry in Spokane Valley’s photo and video contest.

Voting opened Friday and runs through Aug. 30 and there are 46 photos and seven videos to choose among.

The theme of the contest is “This is Spokane Valley” and the entries can be viewed online at www.spokanevalley 10.com; select the “photo contest” link.

The contest is part of Spokane Valley’s 10-year anniversary celebration.

Votes for the People’s Choice will also be accepted on the morning of Sept. 21 during ValleyFest at CenterPlace Regional Events Center, 2426 N. Discovery Place.

Pools ready to go to the dogs

SPOKANE VALLEY – Sunday is the last day to swim at the Park Road Pool this year.

Valley swimmers can go to Valley Mission Pool through Aug. 24.

After Valley Mission Pool closes to humans, it opens to canines with the Paws in the Pool event.

On Aug. 25, dogs up to 59 pounds can swim from 1 to 2:15 p.m. Dogs 60 pounds and heavier can swim from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. The event continues Aug. 26, with the smaller dogs swimming from 4:45 to 6 p.m. and the larger dogs from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. The fee is $5 per dog and there is a limit of two dogs per owner.
