He then served two years in the U.S. Navy (stationed in Olathe, Kansas).

After returning to Spokane, he met Donna Armstrong and they were married January 11, 1957.

Mel truly embraced friends and family, hosting and entertaining countless celebrations at his lake home.

Though our hearts are deeply saddened by Mel’s passing, the fond memories we hold will always provide a bright spot in our lives.

With deep regret we say goodbye to one of the finest characters God placed on this earth.

From everyone who knew Mel, we say thank you for being the best husband, father and friend anyone could be.

God bless and rest peacefully.
