Monday: The Eagles start two-a-days today, and I’ll be joining them. For the morning session only. On the sidelines, with a cold beverage. Then I’ll be driving back to my air-conditioned office to write about the experience. Sorry, that’s as good as it gets.
Tuesday: Just in from walking my dog here on the South Hill, and it was raining – something I’m sure that would be welcome weather for college football players struggling through steamy two-a-days. The rain just stopped, unlike our coverage of Eastern Washington football. Here’s my practice report from Monday, focusing on a talented group of tight ends who hope to get more involved in the passing game. I’m heading back out there in an hour.
Wednesday: I’ll be back in Cheney for two-a-days today (OK, the morning session, the cooler session). To warm up, here’s this morning’s feature on the quarterbacks, specifically the backups, highlighting senior Anthony Vitto. This is also a great time to put in a plug for our first live chat of the season (Thursday) at noon at www.spokesman.com/ sportslink. Joining me will be Eastern athletic director Bill Chaves.
Thursday: I’m off to Cheney for practice and later for a live chat with special guest, athletic director Bill Chaves, but first a few links, including today’s story on EWU special teams, specifically the kickoff return and punt return teams. And speaking of our live chat, it’s easy to join. Just go to spokesman.com/ sportslink.
Friday: It was a busy day in Cheney, what with practice in the morning and an afternoon live chat with athletic director Bill Chaves. The Eagles will hold their first scrimmage on Saturday morning, and I’ll file a report.
