Obituary: Wegner, Harold

WEGNER, Harold Passed away on August 14, 2013, he was 86.

Harold was born on February 3, 1927 to Emil and Estella Wegner.

He attended school in Reardan and, upon graduation from high school, farmed with his father on their wheat and barley ranch just west of town.

He married his high school sweetheart, Doris Klaus, on April 5, 1947.

They raised their four children and lived on the family farm until October, 2010 when the moved into Spokane and resided at the Orchard Crest Retirement Community.

Harold is survived by his wife of 66 years, Doris, and their four children; Gary (Anne), Nancy (Al), Jim (Marilyn), and Bob (Joy), six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and three step great-grandchildren.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Dorothy.

Harold was a member of Reardan Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

He was a Commissioner for Lincoln County Fire District 4 for 20 years and on the Reardan Cemetery Board for 20 years.

Harold was a member of the Spring Creek Grange for over 60 years where he was Past Master and 7th Degree member of the National Grange.

He served on the Board of the Edwall Chemical Corp., was a 4H leader, Conservation Farmer of the Year and Honorary Chapter Farmer of FFA.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids.

He enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, woodworking, restoring old tractors, and other farm equipment.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 26, 2013 at the Reardan Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Reardan, WA.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Orchard Crest and the Sullivan Park Care Center for their loving care of Harold.
