Small plane may have gone down near Cataldo, Idaho

Police and fire crews in North Idaho are searching tonight for the wreckage of an airplane that may have crashed near Rose Lake west of Cataldo. An experimental KR-2 plane was reported missing from the Shoshone County Airport, according to police scanner reports. The KR-2 is a high-speed, two-seat monoplane. Residents in the rural area reported hearing what may have been a plane engine, then seeing smoke, in the area of South Tamarack Ridge Road and South Beaver Road, north of the Coeur d’Alene River and east of State Route 3. Shoshone County Fire District 2, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho State Police and NorthWest Medstar are participating in the search.
