No sign of missing kangaroo, owner says

The owner of a young kangaroo that’s missing in the Deer Park area says her hopes of finding her pet alive are dimming. Hopkins, the 2½-year-old wallaroo, escaped early Sunday and has not been seen since, said his owner, Andie Davis. “As time goes on the chances of a live recovery diminish due to predators,” Davis said in an email today. “A roo’s only defense is to run.” Davis said she slept outside last night in hopes of spotting Hopkins. She noted that coyotes were very active overnight in her rural area. Hopkins was last seen on Monroe Road near the intersection with Crosscut Road, south of Deer Park. The animal is brown and black. Davis’ family keeps three kangaroos as pets. Anyone who spots Hopkins may notify Davis by email: spotgofast@yahoo.com.
