Spokane Falls Northwest Indian Encampment Market and Powwow - The history of this event and the significance of gathering at the Spokane River goes back generations. It has been a traditional gathering place for many Northwest tribes because it gives life, love, hope, and a sense of revitalization. Dancers and singers come from near and far to showcase their songs and their dance styles. It is a unique cultural gathering. There will be opportunities to watch and participate in traditional dancing, and also to buy and trade for handmade arts and crafts. There will be a variety of vendors throughout the weekend. Free Museum Admission for Military Families - Enjoy free admission to more than 1,800 Blue Star museums across America through Sept. 8. Participating Inland Northwest museums include: Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture; Cheney Historical Museum; Post Falls Historical Society; Museum of North Idaho, Coeur d’Alene. The free admission program is available to any bearer of a Geneva Convention common access card, a DD Form 1173 ID card, or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card, which includes active duty U.S. military – Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, as well as members of the National Guard and Reserve, U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps – and up to five family members.
