Obituary: Chicha, Kathryn M.
Age 94
A lifetime resident of Spokane, she was born on October 1, 1918 to Loretta and Robert Shearer.
She graduated from St. Patrick’s Grade School, Holy Names Academy and Holy Names College.
Kathryn married George Chicha in 1941 and together they had three children.
She retired after employment with Spokane County.
With a great sense of adventure she participated in the lives of her children and grandchildren.
The value of education and the insistence on meeting the challenges in life were traits she stressed and modeled.
She is warmly remembered and will be missed by her entire family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Robert Shearer and Roger Shearer and sister Patricia Wienstroer and is survived by her brother Emmett Shearer; her children Kaycey Garrone, George Chicha, and Kermit Chicha; six grandchildren Max, Nicholas, Heather, Megan, Charlotte, and Mitchell; one great-grandchild Milena; several nieces and nephews.
The family is very thankful for Kathryn’s special, dear friend Janet Voye.
A celebration of her life will take place later this fall.
