Obituary: Schmidt, Helen Lucile “Tootsie” (Hamilton)
Schmidt , Helen Lucile “Tootsie” (Hamilton) Our loving mother, grand- mother, great grandmother and best friend passed away peace fully on August 17th. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Charles (Duke) Bailey Schmidt, her brother Roy Hamilton and her lifelong best friend and sister, Hazel Cook (Hamilton). Helen was born and raised in Philipsburg, Montana where she married Duke just out of high school. They moved to Spokane shortly after the wedding to start a family. Together they raised four children, Cindy, Mark, Melissa, and Scott. She was also a Grammy to ten and a Great Grammy to 17. Helen was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Arie #2 since the early 1960’s. She was on the bowling team and very much involved with the Women’s Auxiliary Drill Team. She enjoyed traveling around the Pacific Northwest to the various Eagles conventions with many of her dearest and closest friends. She will be dearly missed by many friends and relatives, we all love you mom! The family would like you to join in celebrating her life. A Memorial service will be held in the Rose Garden at Manito Park 1702 S. Grand Blvd. Spokane, WA, Sept. 4, 2013 at 2:00 with reception to follow in the park. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting contributions to the Helen Schmidt Memorial Fund, STCU, 4727 N. Division St., Spokane, WA 99207, to help with funeral and other unexpected expenses.
