Obituary: Dettmann, George F.

Age 80

DETTMANN, George F. February 27, 1933- August 17, 2013 George was born in Spokane, WA and went to be with his Lord and Savior in Heaven August 17, 2013 after a long illness.

George was a successful wheat farmer in Adams, Franklin, and Spokane Counties.

As a young boy in the 40s George lived in Ritzville and Adams County.

After the death of his father, Fred W. Dettmann in 1957 and his sister Ruth A. Dettmann in 1954, George and his mother moved to Spokane, Wa.

In 1977, George’s mother Wilhemena “Minnie” C. (Freese) Dettmann passed away.

George graduated from Ritzville High School in 1952 and was an honorary life member of the USAF Air Defense Team.

He served for five years with Detachment 1 4755th Ground Observer Squadron (ADC) United States Air Force.

He also briefly served in the United States Army with an honorable discharge.

In 1983 George married the love of his life Margo L. (Hutson) Dettmann of California.

Their loving marriage of 29 years together will live on.

Surviving are: his brother- in-law Roy Hutson of California, cousins: Dena Roberts of Bellevue; Barbara Jolly of Ritzville; and many other relatives, and our great friends Tom and Bev Wayne who never stopped helping and believing in us.

Viewing will be held Friday August 30, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM at Danekas Funeral Home - Ritzville and will be followed by a graveside service at Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery at 2:00PM.

In September 2013 in Spokane, WA a dinner will take place in George’s honor.
