Obituary: Lewis, James Luther

LEWIS, James Luther (Age 85) Of Mead, Washington passed away August 23, 2013 surrounded by his loving family.

He was a kind man and a wonderful father who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Jim was born in Spokane and attended Mead High School as well as Whitworth College.

He served proudly in the US Army and was stationed in an artillery unit in Korea from 1951 to 1952.

He spent the majority of his career working at positions in the transportation industry.

Jim enjoyed his retirement years in Mead after raising his family in the Spokane Valley.

He enjoyed automotive hobbies including restoration of his ‘40 Coupe which he had owned from his youth.

Jim was preceded in death by father Billie Luther Lewis, mother Helen Rose Lower, brothers Jerry and John, both veterans of WWII.

Jim is survived by his daughter Kelli Lewis (Mark Howell) of Moses Lake; son Lane Lewis (Carol) of Livermore, CA; grandson Alec Lewis of Livermore; and son Geary Lewis of Spokane.

Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 2:00-4:00pm at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe St., Spokane, WA.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 30, 2013 at 11:00am at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home.

Interment with military honors will follow at Peone Prairie Cemetery in Mead, WA.
