Obituary: Crosset, Jack

Age 93

CROSSETT, Jack C. (Age 93) Passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013 at his retirement home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

He was born February 21, 1920 in Springdale, WA to William A. and Iva M. (Ward) Crossett.

Jack attended school at Springdale and graduated from high school there.

He then attended Washington State College (WSU) in Pullman for the next two years.

Jack enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps in March of 1942 and served as a pilot in World War II.

His service included Burma, India Burma, and China.

He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with three Bronze Stars.

He was discharge from the service in December 1945 as a Captain in the Army Air Corps.

Jack married Valorie Patrice Marion in October 1945 in Great Falls, Montana.

The couple made their home in Oakesdale, WA where Jack operated Crossett’s Grocery Store for 40 years.

His wife Patrice passed away in 1985.

From 1986 - 2005 Jack made his home in Mesa, AZ.

In 2005 Jack moved to Sioux Falls, S.D.

where he made his home since.

He was a member of Oakesdale Lodge No.

55, F. & A.M. at Oakesdale, and a Veteran of World War II, former member of the Oakesdale Fire Dept.

and Oakesdale Chamber of Commerce.

His hobbies included playing golf.

Survivors include three sons; Thomas J. Crossett of Federal Way, WA, Richard M. Crossett of Tacoma, WA, and Michael J. Crossett of Oakesdale, WA; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Valorie Patrice Crossett; his daughter, Susan Smart, and a brother, William Crossett Jr. A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 12:00 P.M. (Noon) at the Oakesdale Cemetery in Oakesdale, WA.

Pastor Kathy Lee Kramer will officiate at the service and the United States Air Force will provide military honors.
