T-birds slip past Jaguars

Colton Cook kicked a 28-yard field goal as time expired to give Southern Utah a 22-21 victory over South Alabama in Mobile, Ala., Thursday night.

The Thunderbirds trailed with 4:43 left when Aaron Cantu drove from his own 35 to set up Cook’s third field goal.

North Dakota 69, Valpraiso 10: At Grand Forks, N.D., Jake Miller and Adam Shaugabay each scored three TDs in a win over the Crusaders. … Montana St. 42, Monmouth 24: At Bozeman, Mont., the Bobcats scored three TDs in the first quarter to go up 22-0 to cruise past the Hawks. … Portland St. 57, E. Oregon 17: DJ Adams rushed for 107 yards and three TDs as the Vikings coasted to a past the Mountaineers. … San Jose St. 24, Sacramento St. 0: At San Jose, Calif., David Fales threw for 255 yards and two TDs to guide the Spartans over the Hornets.
