GU men meet Coppin State after short break from Maui

When the Gonzaga Bulldogs played in the Maui Invitational in 2005 and 2009, they had a week before their next contest.

This time they had four days. One of those was dedicated to team activities in Maui on Thanksgiving Day and a good portion of Friday was spent traveling back to Spokane. Four days after thumping Arkansas in Lahaina, the 11th-ranked Bulldogs (6-1) entertain Coppin State (2-3) this evening at the McCarthey Athletic Center.

Coppin State, located in Baltimore, knocked off Oregon State in Corvallis three weeks ago. The Eagles, picked ninth in the 13-team Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, lost 87-45 at No. 22 Michigan on Friday.

Senior Michael Murray, who led the Eagles in scoring (12.4) and rebounding (8.9) last season and a preseason All-MEAC first-team selection, missed the first four games with a broken finger. The 6-foot-5 forward scored four points in 23 minutes vs. Michigan.
