Obituary: Natwick, Hazel M. (Bartlett)

Age 104

NATWICK, Hazel M. (Bartlett) 1909-2013 Our beloved grandmother and great-grandmother at the age of 104, entered into rest peacefully on Saturday, November 23, 2013 with family members at her side.

She has resided at Regency at Northpointe Care Facility in Spokane for the past eight years.

She was a resident of Spokane for 100 years and a graduate of North Central High School.

Hazel was born in Thornton, Washington on June 29, 1909 to Albert and Daisy Bartlett of Thornton and then moved to Spokane when she was four years old.

On November 9, 1929 she married Gilbert A. Natwick, also of Spokane where they were married for 71 years.

She is preceded in death by her husband Gilbert, her son Charles G. Natwick and his wife Carolyn L. Natwick, daughter Dorothy who died before her first birthday, her brother Bernard W. Bartlett and twin sisters Geraldine Henslee and Bernadine Burlingham.

Hazel was employed with Pacific Northwest Bell as a telephone switch-board operator for 21 years and retired in 1964.

She was a long time member of the Spokane Telephone Pioneers.

Hazel, known by her great-grandchildren as “Gigi”, is survived by her six grandchildren: Vicki McGee, Issaquah, WA; Jan Kent (Jim), Belton, TX; Kim Scarsella (Frank), Normandy Park, WA; Jill Hurst (Mike), Newman Lake, WA; Steve Natwick (Lisa), Renton, WA; Danette VanDitto (Scott), Renton, WA; 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great- grandchildren.

She will be remembered as a caring grandmother, having a sweet smile, being courteous to others and always dressing so nice.

She will be deeply missed by family and friends.

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff, nurses and aides of “Regency at Northpointe” Care Facility for their tender and kind care of grandma.

The grandchildren will hold a private family graveside service in the Greenwood Memorial Terrace Cemetery.
