South Dakota State earns shot at EWU in FCS playoffs

Zach Zenner rushed for 249 yards and two TDs to lead South Dakota State (9-4) to a 26-7 win over Northern Arizona (9-3) on Saturday in Flagstaff, Ariz.

SDS travels to Cheney to take on Eastern Washington (10-2) in the second round at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Sam Houston State 51, Southern Utah 20: Timothy Flanders rushed for 152 yards and two fourth-quarter TDs and the Bearkats (9-4) beat the Thunderbirds (8-5) in Huntsville, Texas. The Bearkats play Southeastern Louisiana (10-2) in the second round.

Jacksonville State 55, Samford 14: DaMarcus James ran for 124 yards and two TDs and the Gamecocks (10-3) routed the Bulldogs (8-5) in Jacksonville, Fla. The Gamecocks play at McNeese State (10-2) in the second round.

Furman 30, South Carolina State 20: Jarius Hollman had a 90-yard punt-return TD and a 34-yard interception-return TD to lead the Paladins (8-5) past the Bulldogs (9-4) in Orangeburg, S.C. The Paladins play at North Dakota State (11-0) next.

Fordham 37, Sacred Heart 27: Levon Williams helped force three turnovers leading to 20 points and the Rams (12-1) defeated the Pioneers (10-3) in New York City. The Rams play at Towson (10-2).

Tennessee State 31, Butler 0: Michael German tossed two TD passes and the Tigers (10-3) crushed the Bulldogs (10-3) in Indianapolis. The Tigers play at Eastern Illinois (11-1).

New Hampshire 45, Lafayette 7: Sean Goldrich threw for 267 yards and two TDs and the Wildcats (8-4) beat the Leopards (5-7) in Durham, N.H. The Wildcats move on to play at Maine (10-2).

Coastal Carolina 48, Bethune-Cookman 24: Alex Ross fired four TD passes and the Chanticleers (11-2) beat the Wildcats (10-3) in Conway, S.C. The Chanticleers advance to play at Montana (10-2).
