Obituary: Peck, June

Age 77

PECK, June (Age 77) 1936 - 2013 On Tuesday, November 26th June lost her long, courageous battle with cancer.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Larry; her three sons Mike (Claudia and children), Steve (Debbie), and Keven (Allison and two grand-children Presley and Gerrod) as well as special friends with which she shared her life.

June was a 48 year resident of Spokane transplanted from Falls City, Neb.

She worked for the Spokane School District for 28 years before her retirement in 1996.

June was a gifted seamstress and loved children.

She combined the two when she was asked to co-coordinate the Spokane Chapter of ConKerr Cancer - an organization that sews pillow cases for children battling cancer.

June took on the challenge, offering her artistic skills and technical knowledge to those around her.

June was a quilter extraordinaire.

June also lent her skills to Charity Quilts - countless quilts will forever comfort family and friends.

In addition, she volunteered her time helping children with their reading skills at Ridgeview Elementary.

Her selfless contribution of her time and energy put smiles on many children’s faces.

A devoted wife, mother, and friend, June always thought of someone else before herself.

Simply put, she was special.

June’s love for her family and friends was always evident in her attendance of countless sporting events, concerts, and family occasions - regardless of distance; it was always most important to “be there.”

June was always humble in her service to others.

For that, she was greatly loved in return.

A very special person was taken from us too early, June will be forever loved and missed.

In lieu of funeral services, there will be a wake in late Spring or early Summer to celebrate June’s life.

Contributions can be made in June’s name to the your local Cancer Society.
