Two men arrested after overnight car chase

From staff reports
Two men were arrested after a car chase that ended with a crash into a Spokane Valley credit union overnight, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. Steven Lewis, 21, and Oshay Sharp, 19, were booked into jail early Thursday after deputies say they tried to flee members of the Spokane Violent Crime Gang Enforcement Team who were attempting to stop their coupe because it was driving erratically. The gang unit is made up of federal and local law enforcement agents, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release. The Monte Carlo driven by Lewis tried to lose officers by traveling the wrong way on North Mullan Road south of Interstate 90. The gang unit ended the chase, but deputies found the car smashed into the Horizon Credit Union on Mullan about a mile south of where the pair was last seen. Deputies picked up two men matching suspect descriptions on foot nearby, according to the news release. Both men were booked on outstanding warrants. Charges of eluding police, fleeing the scene of an accident and reckless driving are pending, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
