Obituary: Cook, Dave Albert

Age 77

COOK, Dave Albert (Age 77) Dave was born on January 2, 1936 in Brawley, CA to Pete and Elsie Cook.

He passed away peacefully on December 3, 2013 in Spokane.

Dave was a Vietnam War Veteran who served his country for 21 years in the United States Air Force with the 92nd Bomb Wing.

Following his service in the Air Force he went to work at the United States Postal Service, retiring after 20 years.

Upon his retirement from the Postal Service he enjoyed driving school bus for the Nine Mile School District, which he did for five years.

Dave enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, camping and golfing in Alaska and in the Northwest.

Additionally, he was a loyal fan of the Seattle Seahawks, WSU Cougars, Seattle Mariners, and of course his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Most of all he served his family.

Whenever his family needed help, he would always be there.

Dave was a member of the Northside Church of Christ for 40 years, serving 15 years of those years as an Elder.

Dave leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Kay Cook; children: Keith (Marcy) Cook and Karen (Michael) Ivy; grandchildren: Samantha (Donnell) Dixon, Heath Ivy, Aaron Ivy, Tyler Cook, Travis Cook and Tessa Cook; great-grandchildren: Arianna Dixon and Gabriel Dixon; and his brother Steve “Dude” (Romy) Cook.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Northside Church of Christ, 5601 N. Jefferson St., Spokane, WA 99208 on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 11:00AM.

A Graveside Service will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley, at 1:30PM.

Memorial contributions may be made in Dave’s name to the Hospice of Spokane Hospice House, 367 E. 7th Ave, Spokane, WA 99202.
