Post Falls boys break away from Rogers

Corey Koski finished with 18 points, 20 rebounds and six blocked shots Thursday, and Post Falls used a 19-5 second quarter to pull away from visiting Rogers in nonleague boys basketball.

Dalton Thompson added nine points, five rebounds and three assists for the Trojans (1-0), who will host Kamiakin on Saturday. PF’s Joey Pfennings had eight rebounds and eight points.

Robert Rucker hit three 3-pointers and scored 17 for the Pirates (0-2). Steven Cavitt added 13 points.

Rogers will return to Greater Spokane League play on Tuesday against Mt. Spokane.

Lakeland 65, Bonners Ferry 45: Tyrel Derrick hit four 3-pointers on the way to a game-high 24 points and added six assists as the host Hawks (2-0) defeated the Badgers (0-1) at Rathdrum. Kyler Rice led Bonners Ferry with 12 points.

Riverside 65, Davenport 44: Dalton Rausch and Tyler Axtell scored 16 points apiece to power the host Rams past the Gorillas in the opener for both. Austin Zeller’s game-high 22 points led Davenport.

Coeur d’Alene JV 48, St. Maries 42: Brody Lundblad scored 13 points to guide the visiting Vikings JV past the Lumberjacks (1-1).

Cody Posselt had a game-high 18 points for the Lumberjacks.

Girls

Inland Empire League

Lake City 47, Post Falls 37: Carissa Smith totaled 16 rebounds and 10 points as the Timberwolves (4-0, 1-0) defeated the host Trojans (2-2, 0-1).

LC’s Hailey Jackson added 12 points and three assists. Shayna Allert led the Trojans with 11 points and four assists.

Nonleague

Coeur d’Alene 57, Shadle Park 31: Sydney Williams finished with 26 points and six rebounds, and the host Vikings (5-0) outscored the Highlanders (1-1) 25-0 in the first quarter to roll to a victory.

Brittany Tackett added six rebounds and three steals for Coeur d’Alene.

Colville 65, Rogers 46: Sadie Learn scored 19 points, including two 3-pointers, and added 10 rebounds as the host Indians (1-0) defeated the Pirates (0-2).

Taryn Main added 12 points and five rebounds for Colville. McKenna Cabbage scored 11 points and Tyra Brons 10.

Riverside 50, Davenport 34: Julianna Trepanier totaled 16 points and six steals while leading the host Rams past the Gorillas in the season opener for both. The Rams’ Marisa Pace added 11 rebounds and 10 points.

Lakeland 51, Bonners Ferry 45: Emily Vanderhoof and Kaiden Kelsey scored 11 points apiece to guide the host Hawks (3-4) past the Badgers (0-2) at Rathdrum. Desi Minor led the Badgers with a game-high 16 points.

Timberlake 45, Moscow 36: Jessica Norlander scored 16 points and the visiting Tigers (2-2) took control during a 17-7 third quarter to topple the Bears (0-5). Abbi Seubert added 10 points for Timberlake.
