Obituary: Albert, David Joseph

ALBERT, David Joseph 1974 - 2013 Known by his many, many friends as “Fat” Dave Albert, Dave passed away in Portland, Oregon on November 27, 2013 from complications of his juvenile diabetes.

Dave is the son of Dr. David Alan Albert of Kansas City, MO., and Mary (Steve) Coon of Spokane WA.

Mary taught school at Riverside School District for 30 years.

Dave attended Whitworth Elementary, St. Thomas More, Linwood Elementary, Salk Middle School, North Central High School and finished high school at Havermale.

He attended cosmetology school and worked for 20 years as a stylist.

His mom and dad grew up in Ironwood, Michigan.

He was the grandson of Ted and Marie Albert (both deceased) and Thomas J.

(deceased) and Ethel Vizanko (now residing in Wilwaukee, WI) all of Ironwood, MI.

He loved to go to Grandpa Vizanko’s farm and be with his many cousins.

His mom had twelve brothers and sisters: Jeanne Olsen of Ironwood, Tom Vizanko (Christine) of Schwartz Creek, MI, John Vizanko of Colorado Springs, CO, Kathy Brunke (deceased) of Lansing, IL, Margy Skaarhaug of Grand Marais, MN, Teresa Lutey of Portage, WI, Janet Harma (Bruce) of Aurora, CO, Ally Vizanko of Fox Point, WI, Laura Dinges of Denver, CO and Carol Moore of Wesley Capel, FL.

He enjoyed and cherished great family times with his cousins.

Dave resided in Portland, OR for the past thirteen years.

“Fat” had many friends in Spokane and Portand.

He was loud and outrageous (like his Mom) and was such a character!!!

You always heard him before you saw him (Mom, likewise).

He was SO loved by so many people.

He and his Mom would get so “amped” to see each other that he’d call from Portland and count down, “six more days…five more days…three more hours…” and his Mom got some great “paybacks” when she went down to Portland…keeping the household up when THEY needed to go to work the next day.

When Dave and Mary got together they sat on opposite ends of the couch and talked of everything.

Mary would say,”Do you know how lucky we are?

I KNOW how much you love me.

And you KNOW how much I love you.

Not everybody has that.”

Dave was truly one-of-a-kind, he didn’t let situations or people define who he was…he was like the “Velveteen Rabbit”…real.

“Fat” was known for his karaoke singing, especially singing all of John Fogerty’s songs dedicated to his Mom.

Dave will be missed by all who knew him.

He’s on the “Stairway to Heaven”.

Mary wants all of his friends to know, that when she sees them, she sees Dave.

A memorial will be planned after the Holidays and announced on Facebook.
