Obituary: Bishop, Agnes Holzer “Aggie”
Agnes was the twelfth of fourteen children born to Rochus Holzer and Barbara Schneider Holzer immigrant Germans from Odessa, Russia who homesteaded in Strasburg ND.
As a teen she worked for neighboring farm families, later moving to Yakima with her brothers.
Then on to Bremerton where she worked in the shipyards, then Seattle to work for Boeing.
On a ferry boat ride from Bremerton to Seattle in December 1944 she met a young sailor, Clarence “Dick” Bishop, whom she married the following May in Seattle.
After WWII they moved to Spokane and raised three daughters in a very loving and caring home.
Aggie was a great cook and traditional homemaker.
Family and friends especially enjoyed her German family recipes.
Her front porch was a favorite gathering place for family and friends.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda Sabie, Coleen Reavill Prescott and Cindy (Gary) Hofer.
Grandchildren Wendi (Dale) Soulia, Eric (Jodi) Sabie, Candi (Don) Davis, David Reavill, Becky (Todd) Schmelzer, Elizabeth Prescott, Gabriel, Mans, Ansehl and Mariah Hofer.
Numerous great and great-great- grandchildren, brother John (Bertha) Holzer, sister Eva Eberspecher, sisters-in-law Katie Holzer, Rose Holzer; brother-in-law Ronald (Kateri) Bishop, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Aggie was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband of 58 years Dick Bishop, brothers Joseph, Eugene and Thomas Holzer, sister Margaret Kraft.
Visitation at Hennessey Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division, Spokane on Tuesday December 10 from Noon to 6:00.
Funeral Service in the Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley, Spokane, Wednesday December 11, 2013 at 1:00PM.
