Obituary: Bourne, Lloyd R.
Age 76
His battle with cancer was brief, but his choice to embrace moments with family and friends during that battle was inspiring.
He was born November 3rd, 1937 in Orofino, Idaho to Harry and Myrne (Hember) Bourne.
He graduated from Sprague High school in 1955 and married Maureen Smith in 1957.
This 56 year marriage was spent farming land known as Hearty Acres.
Lloyd was very active throughout his life.
He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church where he served as Council President, but perhaps was best known as “The Sausage Man” cooking and serving at their annual feed for 28 years.
He loved sports and was a football and basketball timer for more than 40 years, including the State Basketball tournament.
He faithfully followed the Sprague Vikings, Sprague/Harrington Falcons, and then the Bronco teams.
He served on the FSA Committee, was a 4-H Leader, Lincoln County Civil Service, and the Sprague School Board and the State Legislative Committee.
He also was a past president of the Sprague Chamber of Commerce and served on the Sprague Grange Co-Op Board.
Lloyd is survived by his wife Maureen, son Joel Terry, and daughters Larae Rodriguez and Loi (Tony) Lutes all of Sprague.
His three beautiful grandchildren are Victor and Amber Rodriguez and Steven Lutes.
He is also survived by three brothers, Dick (Dorothy) Bourne of Spokane, Harold (Ann) Bourne of Brown Deer, Wisconsin, Howard (Donnette) Bourne of Post Falls, Idaho, and one sister Betty Little of Spokane.
There are numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends who all touched his life as well.
The family invites you to an open casket Communion Service at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Sprague on December 13th at 7 pm and a Celebration of Life Service at the Lutheran Church on Saturday, December 14th at 10:30 am.
A lunch reception will follow at the Sprague Community Building.
Memorials may be sent to St. John’s Lutheran Church of Sprague (Box 343), the Sprague Community Building (Box 17), Maccabee Cemetery (Box 8), Sprague Alumni Scholarship (Box 171), or the charity of your choice.
Public viewing will be from 12-4 pm on Friday at Danekas Funeral Home-Ritzville and prior to the Celebration of Life Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
