Obituary: D’Aboy, Diana Adelle (Rogier)

Age 76

D’ABOY, Diana Adelle (Rogier) 3/9/37 - 11/24/13 Diana was born in Highland, Illinois on March 9, 1937.

She had a wonderful childhood growing up on a farm.

Her father, Dwight Rogier, was a country school teacher and farmer, her mother, Lola Rogier, was a homemaker, musician, and gardener.

Diana was a faithful Christian her entire life.

Music was always a part of her life, through singing as well as playing the flute and piano.

Growing up, she was involved in 4-H Clubs, and was a cheerleader and salutatorian of her high school graduating class of 1955.

Diana married John E. D’Aboy on June 7, 1958, and they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary earlier this year.

Diana received her BA in Elementary Education from Ottawa University in Ottawa, KS, in 1959, and her MA in Elementary Education from Arizona State University in 1972.

Diana and John moved to Spokane, WA in 1972, where Diana was a stay-at-home Mom followed by 22 years as a Chapter 1 Math Specialist for the Spokane School District.

In 1987, Diana was selected Distinguished Teacher in Spokane School District #81.

In 1991, she was selected Presidential Awardee for Excellence in Elementary Mathematics Teaching for the State of Washington.

In August, 1996, Diana was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and died peacefully at home on November 24th, after battling the disease successfully for 18 years.

She is survived by her husband, John, four children and eight grandchildren, as well as four brothers and sisters.

Per Diana’s request, no memorial service will be held.
