ERICKSON, Esther E. (Age 96) On December 2nd, Esther Erickson, a Spokane resident of 74 years, passed away in her home at Fairwinds Retire- ment Community.

Born to Henry and Emma Nauditt March 28th, 1917 in Lind, WA.

She moved to Spokane at the age of 22 and graduated from Mabton High School in 1936.

December 2nd was also a celebration for her 72nd wedding anniversary.

On December 2nd 1939, Esther married the love of her life, Harold Erickson, also of Spokane, WA.

She, along with Harold worked for Wearever in door-to-door sales in the 1930’s and put on dinner parties for groups of potential buyers of cookware.

Together she and Harold partnered in business with six others to form the Valley Sales Company.

In 1954 Valley Sales became Marvels Furniture, Esther and Harold became sole owners of Marvels, which had locations in both the Valley and eventually Heritage Village.

Together they owned Marvels for 45 years until closing their doors for the final time in 1997.

She and Harold loved their cabin on Lake Coeur d’Alene where they spent time with family and friends, and she loved sharing in Harold’s hobby of fly-fishing.

Esther was a devoted Christian and long standing member and deacon, of Whitworth Presbyterian Church.

She was active in the Lillies of the Valley Garden Club and dedicated 45 years to the club.

To Esther, family meant everything.

She was active in the lives of her children and devoted 17 years to PTA volunteer services.

She was a Girl Scout leader for six years and a member of Millwood Presbyterian where she taught Sunday school for nine years.

She also was an avid political volunteer with the Election board, which spanned 20 years of dedicated support.

Survived by her two children, Bill and Sandi Erickson; daughter in law Ela Erickson and son in law Robert Greves.

In a memoir we found, written by Esther, she made the following statement: “The Lord has blessed us with two generous, kind and helpful children, and for this we both would like to say “Thank-you for all you have done!”

It’s been a full and busy 90 years of life spent with a caring family and friends in my loving home and vacation cabin where we spent many years of fishing, fun and togetherness.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Fairwinds Retirement for the excellent care and comfort they provided for our Mother.

Mom we will miss you so very much.

You Mother, were our heart, our love, our life, and the hub of this magnificent family you created…how do we carry on without you, our friend, our companion, our Mother.
