Obituary: Hansen, Afton

Age 92

HANSEN, Afton (Age 92) Afton was born October 10, 1921 in Mantua, Utah.

She passed away December 3, 2013 at home.

She was the daughter of Leroy and Helen Petersen.

She attended high school in Brigham City, Utah and was Valedictorian of her graduating class.

She married Ross Hansen on October 9, 1941.

The marriage was later solemnized in the Cardston, Alberta L.D.S.

Temple.

She attended business school and worked many different office jobs as she accompanied her husband through his tour of duty in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

Afton moved to Spokane in 1956 with her husband and four sons.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints serving in various church positions.

She and her husband spent most of their past years divided between their home in Spokane Valley, their winter home in Mesa, Arizona, and their summer cabin on Hayden Lake.

She spent many hours sitting in the sun or her favorite chair enjoying a good book.

She also spent many hours crocheting, baking chocolate chip oatmeal cookies, and doing crossword puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross; and by her eldest son Dee.

She is survived by her sons; Russell; Alan and wife, Linda; Neil and his wife, Karen; and by four grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the L.D.S.

Evergreen Building, 14111 E. 16th Ave., Spokane Valley, WA on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 11:30am.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to Hospice of Spokane.
