Obituary: Mounce, Charles Lee “Chuck”

MOUNCE, Charles Lee “Chuck” Born to Clarence and Georgia Mounce of Lewiston, ID in 1925 and passed away December 4, 2013.

After the death of his father at age 5, Chuck and his family moved to Spokane.

Chuck left Lewis and Clark High School to join the US Coast Guard during WWII seeing action in the Aleutian Islands.

After his honorable discharge he worked at the Boeing plant where he met and married Bertha Derkland in Seattle, WA.

They made their home in Spokane with their children.

30 years of his life was spent as a Journeyman Electrician for Kaiser Aluminum Mead plant.

In his “spare time” he built two additions to the family home as well as building a new home on Spirit Lake, ID.

He was an avid outdoorsman, loved to hunt and fish and raised a garden of vegetables.

He loved golf and walking in Bloomsday which he did from its inception until the past four years of his life.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha; his parents; his brother, Jim and his sister, Pat.

Charles is survived by children, Carolee (husband, Hollis and daughter, Christina) Murphy of Clinton, CT, Mike (wife, Patsy and son, John) Mounce of Chewelah, WA, and Jan (daughter, Nicole) Mounce of Camarillo, CA.

A special thanks to all his caregivers from Classy Retreat.

A private service will be held.
