Obituary: Urlie, Lorraine Frances

Age 86

URLIE, Lorraine Frances (Henning) (Age 86) Lorraine Frances Bloom was born in Spokane, WA., on July 22, 1927 and lost her brief battle with cancer on November 30, 2013.

She graduated from North Central High School and married Edwin (Sonny) Henning.

While raising their family in Spokane, Lorraine worked at Medical Service Corporation.

Her second marriage to Bernie Urlie took her to Portland, OR., where she was employed in the credit department at Parr Lumber Company.

Upon retirement, she spent several years of residence on the Washington Peninsula before returning to Spokane in 1998.

Lorraine was a very caring lady who loved being around people and having fun.

She always had a smile and could carry on a long conversation with anyone.

She loved being outdoors at the ocean or the lake and enjoyed camping, fishing, clam digging, snowmobiling, gardening, and golfing.

We will all miss “Granny’s” feistiness, quick wit, and sense of humor.

Lorraine is survived by four children: Terry Henning (Rita), Sunni Rae Strand (Jack), both Spokane, WA., Kevin Henning (Cindi), Buxton, OR., Diane Anderson (Dave), Lake Stevens, WA; “Granny” has eight grandchildren: Carri Crowe, Kelly Strand, Shaleen Lenz, James Henning, Brandon Henning, Chelsea Henning, Derek Anderson, Daria Anderson.

She was blessed to have known her and spent time with her nine great-grandchildren; her cousin and best friend, Winnie Storey, Spokane, WA; and sister, Beverly Matthews, Glennallen, AK., also survive.

Special thanks to Pastor Jim Johnson, Brian Jack, Angie, Sandy, and all the staff and volunteers at Hospice House for their compassion and care during mom’s last weeks.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St Luke Lutheran Church, PO Box 28948, Spokane, WA., 99228-8948 or Hospice of Spokane, PO Box 2215, Spokane, WA., 99210-9811.

A memorial celebration will be held at St Luke Lutheran Church, 9706 N Division, Spokane, WA., on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 1:00 PM.
