Obituary: Merkel, Gordon Henry
He is survived by his daughters Kathi Fisk, Karol Korte and one son John (Leanne) Merkel.
Seven grandchildren, Honey Ann, Lisa, Laura, Sara, Kevin, Kristine and Eric.
13 great- grandchildren, one brother Kenneth Merkel and one niece and two nephews.
He is preceded in death by his sister Dolores Henry and his parents Harold and Myrtle Merkel.
Gordon was a charter member of the Edwall Lions Club, Edwall Grain Growers, Edwall Chemical, Waukon Grange, and the Edwall Fire Department.
He recorded weather and rain for the conservation service and farmed.
Gordon’s interests were NASCAR racing, Seattle Seahawks, cars, snowmobiles, motorcycles, trap shooting, CB radios, monitoring the scanner and his family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at the Edwall Methodist Church in Edwall, WA on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 1:00pm with Pastor Dirk Robertson officiating.
Interment to follow at the Edwall Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Lincoln Hospital Foundation.
