GSL girls: Gonzaga Prep holds off CV in foul-filled game

Gonzaga Prep had to make most of a 16-point lead hold up as the Bullpups held off the visiting Central Valley Bears 70-66 in a foul-plagued Greater Spokane League girls basketball Tuesday.

The game became a marathon as 52 fouls were called. G-Prep (3-1, 2-0) made 22 of 34 free throws while CV (2-0) made 25 of 33. Laura Stockton led G-Prep with 23 points and Madison Hovren had 25 for CV.

Lewis and Clark 87, Shadle Park 50: Janieva Bates had a game-high 20 points and Brooklyn Howlett and Riley Lupfer had 12 and 10, respectively, as the visiting Tigers (1-2, 1-1) cruised past the Highlanders (1-2, 1-1). Shyla Carr led Shadle with 19.

Mead 60, North Central 44: Sue Winger scored 18 and had five rebounds and three assists to lead the Panthers (2-2, 1-1) over the visiting Indians (0-3, 0-2). Brianna King led NC with 13 points.

Mt. Spokane 45, Rogers 38: The Wildcats (1-2, 1-1) used an 11-3 start to hold off the visiting Pirates (0-3, 0-2). Isabella Allard led the Wildcats with 10 points and Kristen Hunter had 10 for Rogers.

University 69, Ferris 55: Four Titans (2-0) scored in double figures in the win over the visiting Saxons (1-1). Shelby Rotchford led with 18 points. McKenzie Peterson had 16, Emma Kennedy 15 and Cassie Shilliam 14 to go with eight rebounds, six assists and four steals. Brittney Johnson led Ferris with 20 points.
