Liberty Lake Blotter: Fleeing suspects blow their cover

Telling people that the police are after you is one way to make sure they call police to check out your story, a pair of Liberty Lake visitors discovered last week.

An employee at a business on Mission Avenue called police Dec. 2 to report that three people were suspected of taking an item without paying for it and provided police with a license plate number. Police found the empty truck parked in the 1300 block of North Liberty Lake Road a short time later, said Sgt. Clint Gibson.

An employee of a nearby business called police to report three people there were claiming that the police were after them. Officers arrived and found two of the three people inside.

A woman from Pullman was arrested on warrants for driving with a suspended license and driving under the influence. A Spokane man was wanted on four warrants – two for theft, one for domestic violence assault and one for driving with a suspended license. The third person was not located.

Other incidents Dec. 2-9:

Dec. 2: A resident reported that a trailer parked at a storage facility had been stolen over the weekend and then returned. The trailer had “Hard Rock Racing” printed on the side and the thieves may have thought it contained a motorcycle, but it actually contained household items. The case is under investigation.

Dec. 4: A harassment/trespassing incident was reported in the 23000 block of East Colony Court.

Dec. 5: A car was reported stolen from the 21000 block of East Country Vista Drive.

Saturday: Officers arrested a man wanted on a warrant for car theft in Seattle in 1984.

Arrests: Officers made three arrests for driving under the influence, one for driving with a suspended license and one for warrants.

Citations: Officers handed out two citations for failure to show proof of liability insurance and two for speeding. Additional citations were given for expired vehicle registration, failure to yield to a pedestrian on a sidewalk and having an open alcohol container.
