Miley Cyrus is MTV’s top artist of 2013

From Wire Reports

Here’s something to wag a tongue at: MTV says Miley Cyrus is the best artist of the year.

The former child star twerked her way to the top. Her eye-popping duet with Robin Thicke on the MTV Video Music Awards was one of the year’s most-talked-about cultural events.

MTV said Monday the VMA duet on “We Can’t Stop” and “Blurred Lines” was the year’s most-watched video on its websites. Similarly, the MTV artist site devoted to Cyrus had more visits than any other artist’s.

Besides “We Can’t Stop,” the song “Wrecking Ball” and album “Bangerz” were big hits for Cyrus, who also had notable appearances on “Saturday Night Live” and MTV’s European music awards show.

MTV executives pick their top artist. One Direction won last year, and Katy Perry won the year before.

This year, Cyrus was an easy choice, said Amy Doyle, head of MTV’s music and talent programming strategy.

Drew’s new role? ‘Oompa Loompa’

Drew Barrymore isn’t exactly feeling the pregnancy glow.

“I feel so lucky to make healthy kids that I will never complain about anything because I just know how lucky I am,” the 38-year-old actress said at a recent event for her beauty brand, Flower. “But I definitely don’t feel super hot. I feel more like an Oompa Loompa.”

Barrymore and her husband, Will Kopelman, are expecting their second child. Their daughter, Olive, is 14 months old.

Her top pregnancy style tips include “a really tight bra and a really loose blouse,” great lipstick and a supportive partner.

“He’s always so complementary,” she said of Kopelman, an art consultant. “He’s always very encouraging when I get myself ready. He always makes me feel really good about it.”

Barrymore has taken a break from the big screen to focus on motherhood and various business ventures, which include Barrymore Wines; her production company, Flower Films; a new photography book, “Find It in Everything”; and her beauty brand for Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

Baby boy makes three for Winslet

A spokeswoman for Kate Winslet says the actress has given birth to a son and is “doing great.”

Winslet had a boy, her third child, on Saturday at a hospital in southern England. The spokeswoman said mother and baby are both doing well.

The baby’s name has not been announced.

This is 38-year-old Winslet’s first child with husband Ned Rocknroll, whom she married last year. She has a daughter, Mia, and a son, Joe, from previous marriages to directors Jim Threapleton and Sam Mendes.

Rocknroll is the nephew of entrepreneur Richard Branson.
