Obituary: Moore, Gladys Doris “Mikki”

Age 92

MOORE, Gladys Doris “Mikki” (Nordhagen) Gladys “Mikki” Doris Nordhagen Weller Leyton Golik Behrman Moore passed away December 5, 2013 at 7:10pm.

Born of Theodore Nordhagen and Anna Gabrielson Nordhagen April 27, 1921 in Westby, Montana.

She was 92 last April.

Mikki had three brothers, Clayton, Orville and Wallace and one sister, Ruth, all of whom pre-deceased her.

From an early age Mikki and her sister, Ruth were known as the yodeling cowgirls.

Mikki player guitar and she and Ruth sang harmony; they entertained at her dad’s restaurant, the “Crystal Restaurant and Bar”.

She was an excellent musician.

She played guitar, piano, electric short neck base and sang beautifully.

She knew more country songs than almost anyone.

She passed on her talents to her son Greg, who plays multiple instruments and sings also.

Among her favorites were Blue Kentucky Girl and Tumbling Tumbleweeds, in harmony with Greg.

She was with Mugs and Norma for several years.

The last band she was a member of was “The Country Reminisce” Band AKA “The Page Rustlers”, a six piece band led by Bill Moore.

They had lots of good times for about ten years, playing all the senior homes in North Idaho and Spokane, as well as weddings, dances, grange halls, New Year’s Eve parties, etc.

Extremely loyal, she has had Rose, of Hair Works, do her hair since 1972; Rose hates to see her go.

Children living are, Greg Layton, Jeffery Golik, Ted Behrman; and deceased Ron Weller.

Grandchildren are, Ryan, Ian, Chelsea, Maria and Lacey.

Funeral service will be at 12 Noon, Friday, December 13th at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home, 1315 N. Pines Road, Spokane Valley, WA.

I kept her out of the nursing home, in our home, where she was loved and cared for until the last breath, and was there to hold her hand till then.
