Mead defeats Ferris 74-48

The defending State 4A champion Mead Panthers got one of their veterans back Friday.

Senior wing Delany Junkermier returned from a team suspension to score 15 points as the visiting Panthers rolled past the Ferris Saxons 74-48 in Greater Spokane League girls basketball action.

“It’s the best we’ve played so far,” Mead coach Quantae Anderson said.

Ashlyn Lewey had 17 points for Mead (3-2, 2-1).

Brittney Johnson led Ferris (1-2) with 15 points, eight rebounds, five assists and five steals. Jill Louthian and Michelle Strauss each had 13 points.

Gonzaga Prep 67, Rogers 24: Four Bullpups finished in double-figure scoring at Rogers. Otiona Gildon led the Bullpups (4-1, 3-0) with 15 points, Kayla Leland and Oona Harrington had 12 apiece and Laura Stockton added 10. Talia Felice led Rogers (0-4, 0-3) with seven points.

Central Valley 70, Shadle Park 40: Madison Hovren had a huge night, leading the visiting Bears (2-1) with 31 points in the win over the Highlanders (1-3, 1-2). Shyla Carr led Shadle with 12.

Mt. Spokane 40, North Central 31: The visiting Wildcats (2-2, 2-1) owned the boards. The Wildcats outrebounded the shorter Indians (0-4, 0-3) 42-28. Megan Nilsson led Mt. Spokane with 10 rebounds. Megan Murphy led NC with 10 points and nine rebounds.

Lewis and Clark 63, University 51: The visiting Tigers (2-2, 2-1) outscored the Titans (2-1) 35-21 in the deciding second half. Riley Lupfer led LC with 21 points and Lindsay Lee added 17. Cassie Shillam led the Titans with 20.
