Girls roundup: Saxons hang on, top Bombers in OT

Kaley Lenhart and Bria Bowton each hit a free throw to account for the only points in overtime and Ferris hung on to beat Richland 61-59 in a nonleague game Saturday night at Ferris.

The Bombers forced overtime with a 35-foot buzzer beater.

Lenhart scored 20 points and Brittney Johnson added 18 to lead the Saxons (2-2). Hailey Turner paced Richland with 13 points and 17 rebounds.

Ferris will play at Lewis and Clark in a Greater Spokane League matchup on Tuesday night.

East Valley 60, North Central 58: Brianna King’s 3-pointer rimmed out at the buzzer, and the Knights survived at home against the Indians (0-5). Taylor Morscheck, who scored 13 points with 11 rebounds, made a layup to put the Knights (4-0) up by two in the final seconds after NC’s Elle Burland tied the game with two free throws. King posted 29 points and seven rebounds, shooting 9 of 15 from the field and 6 of 8 from the 3-point line, but East Valley’s balanced scoring attack was enough for the Knights. EV’s Alex Rankin scored 18 points in 10 minutes before fouling out.

Kamiakin 59, University 49: The Braves made 13 free throws in the final quarter and beat the host Titans (2-2). Kamiakin made 27 of 36 free throws altogether, while University was just 7 of 14 from the charity stripe. The Titans’ Cassie Shillam scored 15 points, Ashley Woods had 13 and Shelby Rotchford added 11.

Lewiston 60, Kellogg 28: Emilee Schlader scored 19 points as the Bengals (6-0) took control early and dumped the host Wildcats (3-2). Lewiston jumped out to a 20-5 lead in the first quarter.

Chiawana 62, Post Falls 31: Delaney Hodgins hit three 3-pointers and scored 23 points to guide the Riverhawks past the host Trojans (3-5). Hannah Bodman had a team-high eight points for Post Falls.

Hanford 52, Lake City 44: Colette Gall made 12 of 15 free throws and finished with 26 points to guide the Falcons past the Timberwolves (5-2) in Richland. Lake City hung with Hanford for most of the game, but 26 fouls committed by the Timberwolves gave the Falcons an overwhelming advantage at the free-throw line. Hanford made 22 of 35 free throws, while Lake City was 5 of 9 from the line. LC’s Olivia Maryon had 12 points and eight rebounds.

Pullman 57, Lakeland 28: The Greyhounds (1-2) built a 21-point first-half lead and cruised past the visiting Hawks (3-7). Emily Drake made three 3s and finished with 23 points for Pullman. Lakeland was led by Kelly Ramus’ 11 points.

Priest River 55, Deer Park 34: Katlyn Summers scored 14 points and pulled down 12 rebounds as the Spartans (3-3) pulled away after a competitve first quarter and beat the visiting Stags (0-5). Jill Weimer and Lily Luckey each added eight points for Priest River.

Brewster 75, Medical Lake 28: The Bears collected 23 offensive rebounds en route to an easy victory over the host Cardinals (2-2). Monica Landbeck scorched the nets for 28 points and Chandler Smith added 21. Cassidy Hagel led Medical Lake with nine points.

Newport 49, Bonners Ferry 18: Hadley Stratton scored 17 points as the Grizzlies (4-0) dominated through the first three quarters before letting up in the fourth in a win over the host Badgers (1-3).

Timberlake 46, Riverside 21: The Tigers (5-2) built a comfortable first-half lead and cruised past the Rams (2-2) at Spirit Lake. Allison Kirby scored 14 points for Timberlake, which held Riverside to five total field goals. Marisa Pace led the Rams with 11 points.

Davenport 50, Odessa-Harrington 36: Chrissy Hannemann led all scorers with 12 points and Natalee Hayes added 10 as the Gorillas (2-3) topped the host Titans (2-2). Casey Schlomer had nine points and eight rebounds for Odessa-Harrington.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 54, Soap Lake 45: Reinnee Rockett scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds as the Warriors (1-3) shook off a sluggish start and defeated the visiting Eagles. Julianna Hughes added 11 points for ACH.

Wilbur-Creston 57, Waterville 27: The Wildcats (5-0) used a 19-1 second-quarter run to surge past the host Shockers. Kaelee Reed scored 19 points and Hannah Haglin added 16 for Wilbur-Creston.

Tekoa-Oakesdale 55, DeSales 47 (OT): The Nighthawks (3-0) rallied in the second half and thrived in overtime to defeat the visiting Irish. Olivia Pakootas scored 23 points to guide Tekoa-Oakesdale’s charge. The Nighthawks trailed by nine at the half, but used a strong second half to pull even and then outscored DeSales 10-2 in overtime.

Wallace 48, Victor (Mont.) 42: Jordan Browning scored 24 points and the Miners (6-2) erased an eight-point first-half deficit to beat the Pirates in St. Regis, Mont.

Northeast 2B

Liberty 53, Reardan 44: Christine Denny scored 23 points and the Lancers (3-3, 2-0) pulled away in the third quarter and beat the host Indians (1-4, 0-2). Aly Tee added 10 points for Liberty. Maddie Johnson had 18 for Reardan.

Colfax 60, St. George’s 36: Amara Huber scored 20 points and added 12 rebounds as the Bulldogs (3-1, 2-0) defeated the visiting Dragons (2-4, 0-2). Nicole Sheer contributed 16 points eight rebounds for the Bulldogs. Freshman Ceci Berquist led St. George’s with 14 points.

Northwest Christian 74, Springdale 27: Courtney Gray scored 17 points as the Crusaders (5-0, 2-0) overwhelmed the visiting Chargers (1-5, 0-1) from the opening tip and eased to the win. Mackenzie Gray added 12 points and six rebounds for Northwest Christian. Bailey Brown led Springdale with 10 points.

Northeast 1B North

Selkirk 51, Columbia 35: Katie Couch’s triple-double (23 points, 17 rebounds and 11 steals) propelled the Rangers (1-3, 1-1) past the visiting Lions (3-2, 1-1). Hannah Rick added 14 points and six rebounds and Lexy Ellsworth hauled in 12 rebounds for Selkirk. Asia Kieffer led Columbia with 18 points.

Curlew 42, Northport 29: The Cougars (3-1, 2-0) forced 19 first-half turnovers and beat the host Mustangs (0-6, 0-3). Curlew was led by Lindsey Gibson, who made 17 of 20 free throws and finished with 19 points. Ashtyn Baribault led Northport with 12 points and eight rebounds.

Republic 62, Inchelium 28: Sierra McQuay led four players in double figures with 14 points and the Tigers (4-0, 2-0) eased past the host Hornets (0-2, 0-1). Republic’s Shania Graham posted 13 points, Makenna Weltz had 12 and Demi Jo Vaughn added 11.

Southeast 1B League

St. John-Endicott 31, Garfield-Palouse 19: Rachel Gfellar scored eight points and the Eagles (2-1, 2-0) stymied the Vikings (2-2, 1-1) defensively in a win at St. John. Gfeller also had seven rebounds, three blocks, and three steals. Emily Jones added six boards for the Eagles.

Liberty Christian 52, LaCrosse-Washtucna 19: Sarah Croskrey scored 24 points and Winter Greeno added 17 as the Patriots (1-1, 1-1) dominated from the outset in an easy win over the visiting Tigercats (0-2, 0-2).

Colton 78, Touchet 31: Jenna Moser scored 28 points as the Wildcats (2-0, 1-0) opened the game on a 28-2 run and dumped the visiting Indians (0-1, 0-1). Cierra McKeown tallied a team-high 18 points for Touchet.
