Announced The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Saturday that wide receiver Dexter McCluster has been ruled out for today’s game in Oakland after developing an infection in a small cut on his ankle. The Chiefs were wary that McCluster may have developed MRSA, but tests came back negative for the serious strain of staph infection. The Chiefs had already ruled out left tackle Branden Albert (knee), tight end Anthony Fasano (concussion), and linebacker Justin Houston (elbow).

• Washington Redskins rookie tight end Jordan Reed will miss his fourth consecutive game because of lingering effects from a concussion. Reed is the team’s second-leading receiver with 45 catches for 499 yards.

Listed The Detroit Lions have listed cornerback Chris Houston as doubtful to play the Baltimore Ravens because of a toe injury. Running back Reggie Bush (calf) and defensive end Ezekiel “Ziggy” Ansah (shoulder) are listed as questionable on the injury report for Monday night’s game. The Lions also expect to be without cornerback Darius Slay a little more than a week after he had knee surgery.

Finalized Free-agent right-hander Bartolo Colon and the New York Mets finalized their deal. Colon and the Mets agreed to the two-year, $20 million deal Wednesday at the winter meetings. The 2005 A.L. Cy Young Award winner went 18-6 last year with a 2.65 ERA for the Athletics in a season he began by completing a 50-game suspension for a positive testosterone test.

Traded The Edmonton Oilers traded goalie Jason LaBarbera to the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday for future considerations. LaBarbera will be assigned to the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs. The 33-year-old LaBarbera, who played in 21 games for the Chiefs during the 1999-2000 season, appeared in seven games this season with Edmonton, going 1-3-0 with a 3.28 goals-against average.
