Nectar’s New Food Flights

Nectar Tasting Room has debuted an expanded menu.

Its classic food plates – baked brie, spinach and artichoke dip, cheese and charcuterie – are still available for $10. But new $15 food flights, designed to serve two, give wine tasters more options. Its “When Pigs Fly” flight features bacon-wrapped dates, bacon macaroni and cheese, and bacon peanut butter fudge. There’s also a selection of salads, sliders, desserts and Greek- and Asian-inspired dishes.

A co-op of five Washington wineries, Nectar partnered with Just a Couple of Moms Catering in the fall to add a commercial kitchen and expand its menu.

Kickstart Wandering Table and Yards Bruncheon

Chef Adam Hegsted has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $34,000 to create two restaurants at Kendall Yards.

Yards Bruncheon will serve Northwest-inspired breakfast and lunch items all day in a relaxed and modern diner setting. It will also feature a walk-up window for pastries, espresso and tea.

Wandering Table will feature handcrafted cocktails and small, creative, tapas-like dishes.

A $10 donation gets your name on the wall at one of the eateries. For $800, donors receive – among other rewards – a 12-course dinner for six. An $8,000 pledge secures a private party for 40 at one of the restaurants.

Hegsted serves as executive chef at the Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort, where he oversees eight food venues and $10 million per year in sales. He hopes to open the brunch spot in February and the tapas place in April.

The Kickstarter campaign runs through Dec. 31.

Cowgirl up!

Cowgirl Chocolates – the Moscow-based maker of specialty chocolates, caramels, cocoa and gifts – has started shipping international wholesale orders to Taiwan and France.

Last month, the company sent its first wholesale order of Cowgirl Chocolates to Taiwan. It also fulfilled a large order in France with the Canadian Canoe Shop.

Cowgirl Chocolates, perhaps best known for its spicy chocolate with its signature “Cowgirl kick,” was founded in 1997 as an online-only company. The business opened a shop in Moscow in 2005.
