Obituary: Hagadone, Geraldine “Gerry”

HAGADONE, Geraldine “Gerry” On December 9th, 2013, mom was suddenly taken home to be with her heavenly father.

She was born on May 29, 1928 in Ritzville, WA, the 9th of 10 children to Frederick and Suzanna Koch.

Mom moved to Spokane to live with her older sister while she finished high school and worked in the candy factory where they made candy bars to ship to our soldiers.

In Spokane, she met Gene Hagadone and they were married in January, 1948.

They had a long, happy marriage until dad’s death in 1993.

Mom was a wonderful mom and a great best friend.

Most of our friends to this day still call her “mom” because she truly enjoyed being around us and our friends.

And when the grandchildren came, they became her whole focus.

She loved to take care of them and spoil them which she did often.

Four years ago, her first great-granddaughter was born and they have been pretty inseparable since.

Mom worked for quite a few years in the Yakima School District as a Cook and Cook Manager, her longest time spent at Lewis & Clark Middle School.

When her and dad retired, they spent a lot of their time traveling to numerous countries.

You would always see mom at the SunKings Basketball games and the Bears Baseball games.

For several years, she was a volunteer cart driver for the Yakima Greenway which she especially enjoyed.

She also loved to go to the Casino and try her luck at the slots.

At home, she liked to watch the birds build their nests in the bird houses and always knew when the “babies” arrived.

She liked to sew, knit, crochet and read.

Mom will be greatly missed by all whose life she touched.

She is survived by two daughters, Lynn (Ken) Ring of Tacoma and Robyn (Garry) Heilman of Yakima; granddaughters Heidi Williams of Dubai, Stacy (Scott) Stephen of Yakima, Amy Ring of Seattle and Kelly (Jody) Ring of Seattle; grandsons Brady (Meghan) Johnson of Yakima and Trevor Heilman of Spokane; great-granddaughter, Adelyn Stephen of Yakima; great-grandson, Truman Hall of Seattle; one sister, Nathalia (Dollie) Vanderford of Yakima; and one brother, Walt Koch of Spokane, along with several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gene, her son, Bruce, her parents, and seven brothers and sisters.

Mom had a full life and laughed often.

At her request, there will be no services.
