McLaughlin’s parting shot

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

In support of her vote to extend the ban on sitting in downtown Spokane, Nancy McLaughlin, outgoing member of the City Council, said she is concerned by what she sees as rebellious behavior by people hanging out on downtown sidewalks.

“That kind of behavior will not be tolerated on our streets,” she said.

Spokane will miss Councilwoman McLaughlin’s commitment to keep our streets free for proper folks who have homes, money and political clout. Rebellious behavior should not be tolerated; it is un-American.

If people want to sit, they should get off their butts, get a job and buy a La-Z-Boy. We must continue to be vigilant lest the little rebels get the notion that they have rights, too.
